My second order of the day was to head to the hospital for blood tests and xrays. A couple of weeks ago I had pneumonia and they wanted follow up xrays and some blood tests.
Next we picked up a fig tree and a nectarine tree to plant for future fruit. Last year I had blackberries, peaches, and some wonderful tasting grapes. One day I plan on having an orchard that will supply all of the needs for jams, jellies and preserves. I am like the ant moving the rubber tree plant. I have high hopes.
Rather than think about the financial mess our country is in I will take out my frustrations on hating nut grass. This hate I have with nut grass didn't start recently it goes back to when I lived in central Florida. We had a neat little garden till the nut grass reared it's ugly head. I would spend my afternoons and any spare time to meticulously pulling each little grass complete with it's nut out of my garden. After toiling Iong and hard I did rid my garden of that pesky little weed. Now I believe that sucker has followed me all the way up here. My garden is a nut grass haters nightmare it is so rich and vibrant makes me wish it were worth cultivating. I went out this morning and worked on pulling some of it up but this is almost overwhelming it is so thick. Our neighbor gave us some weed killer to kill it but I think it fertilized it instead of killing it. Nothing grew in the garden after using the weed killer except the nut grass. We planted some onions and they were pitiful they just didn't grow. I have decided that one of my hells on earth is nut grass.
I hate nut grass.
The guys have gone dove hunting so I have the house to myself. I think I will go take a nap. My head is hurting and my neck is so stiff. I took some ibuprofen and it hasn't fazed the pain so the next best thing is sleep.

We have finally got some much needed rain here and things are really greening and growing.
The turkeys even have enough sense to get in the chicken house to get out of the rain. They are getting aggressive. When I take treats to them they shove the chickens out of the way to get their share and more. My venture with the poultry is interesting to say the least. I love to watch them. Two of them got out of the yard yesterday when I opened the gate. So I let them stay out for awhile to eat grass. The other chickens wanted out too. They pushed up against the fence as if to say, "What about us don't we get to go too?"
I had to put the turkeys on some kind of antibiotic. I think they had bronchitis. They seemed to be huffing and puffing quite a bit. The antibiotic helped they are better. I don't think whatever was wrong with them was serious or they would have died. I am almost sorry I bought them and am thinking of giving them away. I always thought turkeys were docile but then maybe they are I just don't know how to judge docile in turkeys.
Today I get to see my oldest son and his two sons. I have baked cookies and boiled penders (peanuts to you who have never heard the term, boiled penders, this is strictly southern). When I was growing up right after W11 people had a lot of pender boilings for get togethers. It was cheap and gave people a chance to visit. "Y'all come."
